Anil Bazmee's new film - Singh is Kinng has already caught the attention by the controversies based on Akshaye's beard-style in the film. Now as he must be aiming at a consecutive hit with Akshay - Kat chemistry, he has to get the songs topping the charts, and as always, he goes for Pritam.
The album is packed with a dozen of typical Punjabi tracks. Among half of them, are remix versions.
Singh is Kinng: The title track comes first, and straightaway, Pritam is on the business. A Punjabi-Western fusion sort of track sang by R.D.B. and Snoop. Akshaye also sings in middle. The title track may get a fine first impression, but you can't really get anything great from it. Just a Title track.
Jee Karda: Labh Jaan Jua comes with a typical Punjabi bhagra song, and a very nice track, that must be one of the highlights of this album. The Mahiya girl Susie starts the track with the track and the rest of the job is well done by Labh. Pritam does well, nicely tailoring western beats into a Bhangra song - Enjoyable.
Bas Ek Kinng: The Promo song, oh cool! There goes the next rocking track! Mike, Neeraj and Ashish does brilliantly well. Another Western mood song and Pritam handles this well too, but the freshness is not there, to be honest. This really reminds me Ae Ganpat, from shootout, and hey Mike sounds nothing different. But still a very good song.
Bhootni Ke: At last a typical punjabi song. But to be honest, Daler mehndi fails to impress, morover Pritam fails to impress. After an impressive 2nd and 3rd tracks, one would like to skip the third. A song which only typical punjabi's may find enjoyable. For me it was a real stay away track. Remix was a lot better.
Teri Ore: A surprise at the bottom. I wondered, if just these Punjabi numbers were there. But surprisingly, here comes a nice soft melody and it is really enjoyable. Shreya Khosal is amazing and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is better. It's like a Bolna Halke Halke type of track - really one might find it enjoying and relieving after too much of Punjab. One of the best.
Talli Hua: It's Neeraj and Labh again. It's a nice track, with fast beats and party mood, really sets on the dance on the dance floor. But as the previous punjabi tracks, it's Punjabi-western tailoring here too. Not at all a bad track.
Verdict:Singh is Kinng had already topped the charts with some fine tracks in it, but there is nothing for somebody who dislikes Punjabi toppings. The same western style is used in almost all of them, and we can't find anything fresh, and sounds like heard it somewhere. Anyway Pritam is a Directors choice, who rarely makes any mistake. The songs fits into the theme, and are quite fine as standalones too.
